Build a Jack-O-Lantern

This activity was originally created by the one and only, Eric Curts! He is amazing! You can find all of his work on his blog, www.ControlAltAchieve.com . I have taken his creation and worked with it to make it more "attainable" for kinders and littles.  You can make your own copy of it to use with your class right away!

In October of their kindergarten year, most students are still learning their way around a device, so the KDG version focuses solely on moving objects around on a Slide. But keep in mind, since they will need to open their own copy, on their own device, navigate to Classroom (or your LMS) and then open up the Slide. That's a LOT for little ones who might still be learning letters and numbers!

If you are working with first or second graders, the "for littles" version might be more their speed. They still get to enjoy decorating pumpkins, but they also have a little extra challenge of typing 3 facts about pumpkins in textboxes, as well as the ultimate challenge where they can type their own story about a pumpkin.

Regardless of which one you choose to use, popping it into Google Classroom and making a copy for each student is always the best way to go! I make these types of assignments "ungraded", too. Using the cute pumpkin emoji will increase the excitement!

Keep an eye on Eric by signing up for his newsletter and be sure to follow him on the socials; he shares out a TON of work ... for free!
