Val the Valentine

Val the Valentine was created in a super short amount of time thanks to a conversation I had in the hallway with a 1st grade boy. He asked me if I was going to come back to his class in the next couple of days to do a Valentine's activity with his class. I was a little surprised, but thrilled that he remembered the other digital activities I'd done with his class.

"Val" was created in Google Drawings - a lesser used tool - and shared in Google Classroom as an assignment, using the "Make a copy" option for each student. The major "tech focus" in this activity is working on moving items around. This is a great time to force students to practice dragging and dropping - with the arrows on their keyboard AND with two fingers. You might also want to practice using a mouse to move objects around, too.

The hearts to the left side can also help students practice spelling their name, too.
